Soxtober

We can't believe the Sox won it all again! Chris, Michael and I stayed up to the final out Sunday night. Hopefully when Michael is 50 he'll tell people "yeah, my dad let me stay up to watch the Red Sox win the World Series". He's really getting spoiled as a sports fan and I hope he remembers it for a long time.

Watching the Patriots is pretty fun these days too. Looking forward to going down to Gillette to watch the Steelers game.

Nothing runs like a Deere

Chris took Emily and our neighbor Ben to Pumpkin Land in Poland, ME last weekend. It was quite a circus. The kids liked these John Deere tricycles the best. Go figure.

Ducky

A couple weekend ago we had a visit by Chris' Mom's best friend, Mary (aka "Ducky"), and her friend Nancy. They had a great time exploring Portland's wharfs and shops and we enjoyed having them at our house reminiscing and sharing lots of good memories. Thanks for coming Ducky!

Phil and Colleen

This past weekend Chris' cousin Colleen and her husband Phil came to visit us. We had some summer-like Fall weather and enjoyed a day doing some local sightseeing. Here are some pictures.

Emily's ankle

Emily twisted her ankle on Thursday. It looked like a sprain to me, but a little internet research and a call to the doctor confirmed that kids don't usually sprain their ligaments, but rather their bone breaks at a growth plate, where 2 bones are growing together. It's a weaker spot than the ligaments. So, she has a swollen and bruised ankle and has to wear a boot that immobilizes the ankle joint for 4 weeks. Aside from some tenderness on the ankle bone, she's not in pain and the boot hasn't slowed her down one bit.

Ray Chapin, 1926-2007

My Dad, Raymond W. Chapin passed away on September 26. He was 81 years old, served in WWII, worked as a mover for 30 years, had 6 children, and 9 grandchildren. He died peacefully and his passing brought the family closer together. He will be missed.
